LEGENDARY HALL OF ICONIC HIV/AIDS ACTIVISTS
Faghmeda Miller HIV/AIDS Activist Award Nominee: Shane A. Petzer
Born and raised in Kwa-Zulu Natal, after completing high school Shane entered seminary life and pursued studies initially in theology and later transitioned into working into the non-profit area.
Currently residing in Barrydale, Shane is passionate about HIV issues – especially around those that affect the day to day lives of people living with HIV. He concerns himself around issues of prejudice and bigotry around LGBTIQA individuals. Having lived openly as an HIV positive individual for about 16 years, he uses the great opportunity of life to share with others ways of preventing HIV and ways of living and adapting with living with HIV.
Shane’s lengthy list of achievements, accolades and organizational involvements includes being a founding member of Maggie Art Collective; Ambassador for Brothers for Life; Chair of the local Barrydale Health and Welfare Committee as well as Chairman of Net Vir Pret, a youth focused development organisation.
The aim of Red Ribbon Foundation’s Annual Awards is so that the work of Activists, otherwise unseen, are highlighted. Shane A. Petzer our organisation applauds you and urge you to continue carrying forward the torch of hope! To find out more about the work Shane is doing, visit his site www.sexirreverend.com #lovebeyond
